Kacper Kowalski embraces flight as part of his photographic practice. Originally trained as an architect, Kowalski developed a passion for paragliding which he describes as bordering on addiction. This print is from the series “Sun and Fun” (2009). “My work sometimes resembles that of a biologist: I study the human species. Each photograph presents some aspect of our presence on Earth. I don’t go to the end of the world to take them. The paraglider takes me far enough. I take off, reach the altitude of 150 meters and I begin my observation. I want to know how the people in my neighbourhood pass their time outside: swimming, playing games, just being lazy. I peek in to see what’s inside their little fortresses set up on the beach”. The images, in their simplicity, invite contemplation on mankind’s impact on the environment, as well as being a meditation on loneliness, and perhaps the ultimate fragility of human existence. This print is book mounted and sits in a beautiful black-stained Ash frame. Total dimensions of the frame 78.4 x 58.4.x 3.4 cm. Please allow 3 – 6 weeks for framing and shipping.
