Gered Mankowitz is an English photographer best known for his photographs of major musicians and bands. He has worked with a range of artists from The Rolling Stones to Jimi Hendrix, Marianne Faithfull to Kate Bush, Suzi Quatro to Annie Lennox and many more! Gered Mankowitz shot press images for Jimi Henrdrix, his bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell, in his London studio (Mason’s Yard) in 1967. ‘Jimi’s jacket’, now world-famous, came from a shop on Portobello market called Lord Kitchener’s Valet, which specialised in old uniforms. This portrait was taken just before ‘Hey Joe’—Hendrix’s first single—became a huge hit.

The prints are available in multiple sizes as well as framed, get in touch for more information or for a full catalogue of available prints.
